Meadows Mardi Gras Celebrated Store Openings With over 100 Dogs Dressed to the Canines!

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO. - Shoppers weren’t the only ones celebrating the grand opening of two new stores at the Meadows Mardi Gras on Saturday, February 21, 2009. The Meadows Pet Parade co-hosted by the St. Charles Humane Society boasted over 100 dogs dressed to the canines. The event marked the grand opening of Old Navy in its 15,000-square-foot signature clothing store and Ann Taylor Loft in 5,500 square feet. Zydeco entertainment, hot chocolate and Cajun classics from BC’s Kitchen warmed shoppers when they let the good times roll at Meadows Mardi Gras.

The chilly weather did not deter paraders from flaunting their furry friends. The Pet Parade was led by mayor Mike Potter, his standard poodle, Brie, and was accompanied by McGruff the Crime Dog. Guests also enjoyed face painting, an ice sculpture demonstration, and of course Mardi Gras beads from the Lake Saint Louis Fire Protection District. The Meadows Mardi Gras committee also awarded prizes to attendants for Best Costume, Best Dressed Duo and His or Her Majesty of Mardi Gras. This year’s crowned Majesty of Mardi Gras was Alisa Bunton and her long-haired Chihuahua, Maggie Sue.

“We were thrilled that so many people were able to come out and enjoy Meadows Mardi Gras and the first annual Pet Parade,” said Bridget Geiss, marketing director. “I can think of no better way to welcome Ann Taylor Loft and Old Navy than with a family-friendly Mardi Gras festival that the whole family enjoyed-even the pets!”
