News Release: The Meadows Comes Alive with Christmas

The Meadows Comes Alive with Christmas;
Mayor’s Tree Lighting, New Store Openings & Holiday Events Delight Shoppers

            LAKE SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Shoppers are sharing in the magic of The Meadows this holiday season. New store openings, free pictures with Santa, festive holiday events and holiday caroling groups continue to make The Meadows the premiere holiday shopping destination in St. Charles County.

Kicking off the holiday season is the annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Clock Tower Plaza.  With hundreds of twinkling lights, the 15’ Fraser Fir from Pea Ridge Forest Christmas Tree Farm & Nursery in Hermann, Mo. will welcome the holiday season for shoppers and citizens alike.   The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Friday, December 2nd at 7pm in the Clock Tower Plaza of The Meadows.  Guests will enjoy caroling by Green Tree Elementary Choir, hot chocolate & cookies, carriage rides and a visit from Santa Claus!  The event is free and all are welcome to attend.

The Meadows is also proud to welcome two stores, See’s Candies holiday store now open next to Victoria’s Secret and Parmida Home will be opening in December.  See’s Candies are well-known for their selection of over 100 varieties of chocolates and candies and their friendly, old-fashioned service.   St. Louis’s first Parmida Home will be opening in December next to BC’s Kitchen.  Parmida is a leading retailer of affordable home luxuries, gifts and accessories. The store showcases distinctive home decor, wine & cheese accessories, imported coffees & teas, bath & body collections, kitchen accessories, candles, gourmet, as well as timeless gift merchandise.

“Winter has never felt so warm at The Meadows,” says Bridget Geiss, Marketing Director of The Meadows.   “The addition of See’s Candies holiday store and the opening of St. Louis’ first Parmida Home this December continue to make The Meadows the area’s premier holiday shopping destination by giving our shoppers more choices for everyone on their lists.”

Also returning this year are two holiday favorites: horse-drawn carriage rides and complimentary hot cocoa with marshmallows.   The horse-drawn carriage rides are provided by St. Louis Carriage Company, a local business celebrating over 25 years of service.   It is home to fifteen Percheron draft horses that make up the team.  The horse-drawn carriage rides, located across from Salon Kashmir, are complimentary and run every Saturday from noon to 6pm and Christmas Eve from 11-3pm.  Complimentary hot cocoa with marshmallows is also available next to the new See’s Candies store on Saturdays from 11-2pm.

And last but certainly not least, Santa Claus will be in Von Maur’s center court on weekends through December 18th for children to visit and receive a free picture!  The photography is provided by Warwick Photography of St. Louis.  Santa’s hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm through December 18th. Children will receive one complimentary photo with Santa and personal cameras are encouraged.  A complete list of events and times are available on The Meadows website at www.themeadowsatlsl.com.  The Meadows is located at the intersection Highway 40 and Lake Saint Louis Boulevard.
